The PIASLC has also announced an partnership with the US-based IronKids programme. This  connection will support four junior Triathlon events each year as well as training camps for children aged between 6 and 15.

The PIASLC  has chosen former professional tennis player David Roberts as Director of Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations at the impressive Phuket, Thailand sports centre.  David brings experience in both operations and pre-openings.  He has run elite private sports clubs while with Centara Hotels and Resorts Group.  When the PIASLC completes preparations in November and moves into full operations he will be primarily focusing on the co-ordination between club services, sports academies and membership programmes.

As part of a total commitment to sports excellence the Phuket International Academy Mind Centre has started to make available training in the cultivation of cognitive and emotional balance.   The PIAMC will  offer  a combination of modern psychology and neuroscience in association with ancient Asian contemplative practices.  Working in close interaction with the PIA Day School and the PIA Sports and Leisure Club, the programmes offered through PIAMC will contribute to everyone’s improved mental balance
and wellbeing.  Some retreats focuses on two methods for cultivating meditative quiescence or shamatha.     It teaches the practice of “mindfulness of breathing”, which is an effective way for soothing the body and calming the mind.
